Welcoming Our New OT, Emily Gambling

At the heart of my clinical practice is a deep belief in collaboration, curiosity, and lifelong learning. One of my greatest joys as an Occupational Therapist has always been the clinical conversations—the quick hallway “nerding out,” the thoughtful unpacking of complex cases, and the shared excitement when a new insight lands. Mentorship, in all its forms, has shaped my career, and I’ve learned that the most meaningful growth happens through connection and humility.

That’s why I am so thrilled to welcome Emily Gambling, our newest Occupational Therapist! I know Emily shares the same values in her own clinical practice & have appreciated her thoughtful approach to care as we have collaborated here and there over the past decade.

For those seeking Occupational Therapy in Powell River, Emily brings a breadth of experience and a deeply client-centered approach that enhances the care we offer to our community. Emily also will be providing telehealth services for anyone in BC, AB, or ON seeking online occupational therapy services.

Meet Emily Gambling — Mindfulness Facilitator, Forest Therapy Guide, and Registered Occupational Therapist

Emily and I met in OT school and have been lucky to collaborate over the years. Having her join the practice feels like both a natural fit and a tremendous gift.

Emily brings a rich and diverse background to her clinical work. She is:

  • An Occupational Therapist

  • A certified Forest Therapy Guide

  • A mindfulness facilitator

  • A clinician deeply grounded in trauma-informed, holistic care

Emily completed her Master’s in Occupational Therapy at McMaster University and returned home to Northern BC to begin her career. Working in rural and remote communities shaped not only her versatility as a clinician but also her commitment to equitable access to care—an important value for our work in Powell River.

Life later brought Emily to Vancouver Island, where she expanded her focus to mental health, chronic pain, concussion rehab, and nature-based therapies. Her passion for whole-person care shines through everything she does.

She has completed formal training in:

  • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

  • Nature and Forest Therapy Guiding

  • CBT and exposure therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Trauma-informed care

  • Concussion and chronic pain management

  • Chronic disease management
    …and more.

Emily’s curiosity also led her to begin a doctorate in Rehabilitation and Health Leadership, focusing on healthcare worker well-being. While life circumstances led her to return to full-time clinical work for now, that academic depth continues to shape her thoughtful, meaningful approach to care.
