How an Online MSC Course Works

More and more people are seeking self-compassion training, and the demand for flexible learning continues to grow. In our ongoing community survey, live online groups were repeatedly the most requested format for our 8-week Mindful Self Compassion program. People want accessibility, convenience, and meaningful connection—without the barriers of travel or geography.

That’s exactly why we’re offering MSC online courses designed to bring the depth of in-person learning into a format that supports real life.

How Live Online MSC Differs from In-Person Learning

A live online MSC group offers the same warmth, connection, and shared humanity of an in-person course, while removing the stressors that can prevent people—especially busy healthcare professionals—from attending.

What’s different:

  • Join from wherever you are: home, office, or on the go.

  • No commuting, parking, or rushing after a long shift.

  • People from different cities, provinces, or countries can learn together.

  • You set up your own comfortable space—blanket, tea, quiet corner—which helps deepen the experience.

What stays the same:

  • Real-time guidance from a skilled facilitator

  • Group discussion and shared reflections

  • Evidence-based MSC practices

  • A supportive, safe learning community

Online learning isn’t a lesser version. It’s an equitable and accessible approach that allows you to participate fully, no matter your schedule, mobility, or location.

Advantages of a Live Online MSC Group

1. Equitable Access

Our survey revealed that participants want self-compassion training that’s accessible to people with busy schedules, rural living situations, shift work, or caregiving demands. A live online format makes this possible for everyone. It also has the bonus impact of keeping costs lower without the need for space rental, which supports our goal of more equitable access.

2. Zero Travel Time

Especially for busy healthcare workers, parents, and working professionals - time is precious. Instead of commuting, you can transition gently from your day straight into a calming, restorative session.

3. A Comfortable, Personalized Environment

Learning MSC in your own space helps your nervous system settle and makes it easier to integrate the practices throughout your week.

4. Fits Naturally Into a Busy Life

Participants told us they don’t want more homework—they want embodied experiences that actually help.
his course offers exactly that.

What to Expect in Each Session

Each meeting of our MSC online course follows a predictable, grounding rhythm designed for real integration:

1. Direct Teaching

We begin with accessible, evidence-based teaching on MSC themes such as self-kindness, emotional resilience, mindfulness, and working with difficult thoughts.

2. Experiential Practice

Next comes guided experiential work, which may include:

  • meditation

  • reflective writing

  • mindful walking

  • compassion-focused practices

  • grounding exercises

  • paired or small-group reflections

3. Integration + Group Reflection

We then come together for supportive group dialogue—sharing observations, insights, and personal experiences.

4. Repeat the Cycle

This cycle repeats throughout the session, helping you experience the material in your body, not just understand it intellectually.

You will end each session feeling calmer and restored—not overwhelmed with tasks. This course doesn’t add to your to-do list. We do the practices together, so you leave having already done what you intended, with a felt sense of how self-compassion can weave into your life and your week.
